Bend Memorial Clinic surgeon, Dr. Gary Frei, FACS, recently received recognition for successfully completing the Stereotactic Breast Procedures Certification program. There are three components to the stereotactic certification process: a clinical application, a written exam and a practical exam. Dr. Frei met and demonstrated the criteria and requirements established by The American Society of Breast Surgeons to improve the quality of care for patients with breast disease.

Dr. Frei is a board certified General Surgeon and has practiced at Bend Memorial Clinic since 1983. He graduated from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in 1978. In addition to his board certification in General Surgery, Dr. Frei has added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. He is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and a past president of the Oregon Chapter. He is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, is certified in Breast Ultrasound and a participant in the Mastery of Breast Surgery Program. Dr. Frei performs a wide variety of general surgical procedures and has a special concentration in Breast Care and Endocrine Surgery.
