Launches Cardiology Clinics and Same-Day Access for Urgent Cardiac Care

BEND, OR, September 23, 2019 — Summit Medical Group Oregon (SMGOR) today announced an important addition to its cardiology department with the arrival of Matthew Fedor, MD a specialist in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular diseases.  Dr. Fedor joins SMGOR’s team of cardiology specialists, which includes Ian Riddock, MD (lipidology and invasive cardiology), Kirk W. Walker, MD (cardiovascular stress test and heart disease), Christy Gunnet, PA-C (cardiovascular and acute care), and Sarah Cooper, ACNP-BC (congestive heart failure).

Dr. Fedor received his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. His internship and residency training in internal medicine as well as his fellowships in cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology were completed at the New York University Medical School, New York, NY. He is board certified in both cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr. Fedor’s subspecialty is cardiac electrophysiology or treatment of abnormal heart rhythm. He performs electrophysiological studies and radiofrequency ablations, invasive procedures designed to correct abnormal heart rhythms such as atrial fibrillation. He also implants cardiac devices including pacemakers, defibrillators and implantable rhythm monitors.

“I cherish opportunities to help patients understand their medical conditions and empower them with knowledge, so we can work together to prevent, control, and reverse their problems,” Dr. Fedor states. “I’m interested not just in therapeutics, but also in preventive approaches to cardiac disorders and health in general.”

Dr. Fedor has published research and articles in multiple peer reviewed journals and has presented at national meetings of the American College of Cardiology. He has been a primary investigator of multiple clinical trials relating to arrhythmia and cardiac device therapy.
