MAY 15, 2020, BEND, OR – Summit Medical Group Oregon (SMGOR) today announced the expansion of its Total Care™ model with the addition of neurosurgery. Neurosurgery specialist, Mark Belza, MD, will begin practicing at SMGOR’s Eastside Clinic, located at 1501 NE Medical Center Drive in Bend on June 1st.
Dr. Belza is a Stanford University trained neurosurgeon who has practiced neurosurgery in Bend since 1991. Most recently, he practiced at Bend Spine and Neurosurgery. His expertise includes evaluation and treatment of the brain and spine; including but not limited to cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spinal degenerative disease, tumors of the brain and spine, brain and spine injuries, peripheral nerve disease such as carpal tunnel syndrome, and other conditions.

Dr. Belza has been at the forefront of research on spinal procedures involving minimally invasive approaches to the treatment of neck and low back pain. He is a strong advocate of total disc replacement in the cervical and lumbar spine when indicated. He has also served as president of the Oregon Neurosurgical Society in 1999 and 2000 and pioneered the development of the sports head injury program (ImPACT) for high school athletes in Central Oregon.
