Dr. Rawlins believes in establishing trust and safety. Additionally she desires to promote health and wellbeing, and not just management of chronic disease, utilizing the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine: nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, social connectedness, and avoidance of risky substances.
Alexa Rawlins, DO, is a family medicine physician at Summit Health in Bend and Redmond. She welcomes patients of all ages, and has a special interest in women’s health, lifestyle medicine, and prevention of chronic disease.
Dr. Rawlins completed undergraduate school at Wheaton College in Illinois, and later went on to attend medical school at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Colorado. Dr. Rawlins attended OHSU in Portland where she completed her residency.
When asked what interested her in a career in medicine, Dr. Rawlins points to her desire to help others. “Medicine allows me to bear witness to another’s story, and hopefully participate in helping them to be well,” she explains. It is important to Dr. Rawlins that she knows what is of highest value to her patients, so that together they can move forward in a relationship founded on trust. “Practicing in family medicine grants me the privilege to care for an individual or family over an extended period of time,” says Dr. Rawlins.
When she is not caring for patients in the clinic, Dr. Rawlins enjoys spending time with my husband, walking, hiking, camping, Pilates reformer, classes, fiction reading, ceramics, and traveling.
