Karl Schweinberg, PA-C

Karl Schweinberg, PA-C, is a family medicine physician assistant at Summit Health in Sunriver.  As a Navy Hospital Corpsman, Karl served with the US Marine Corps providing combat-related medical care in the field. “As I progressed up through the ranks, I was provided multiple educational opportunities through my 25-year Navy career that promoted a natural progression toward my  long-term goal to ultimately to become a Physician Assistant,” Karl says.

Karl completed his undergraduate education at the University of Maryland. He later went on to attend the Naval School of Health Sciences in San Diego, before completing his medical education George Washington University in Washington DC.

Throughout his career, Karl has found joy in treating a wide range of health issues in both children and adults. “I seek to treat the patient, focusing on and listening intently for the total reason they are sitting across from me,” Karl explains. “I want them to know that I listen while I methodically work through the issue that brought them to me.”

When he is caring for patients, Karl says earning their trust is most important. “ I deeply value and respect that the person sitting across from me has chosen to trust me with their care.”

Outside of work, Karl enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. He likes to explore on the water and in the many forests in Central Oregon. His hobbies include woodworking, building home furniture, and being his family’s “fix-it” guy.
