Dr. Ashley is an internationally recognized expert in the diagnosis and treatment of the enlarged prostate, also known as BPH. He frequently lectures on technique and research and is a procedural instructor for urologists across the world. His other interests include rectal spacer placement before prostate radiation and transperineal prostate biopsy.
Dr. Ashley also practices a wide range of general urology including treatment of kidney stones, urologic cancers and vasectomy.
Dr. Ashley believes that education is the key to giving patients the ability to make their own healthcare choices, however that may align with their individual priorities.
Matt S. Ashley, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Urology team. Dr. Ashley practices all aspects of urology including treatment of enlarged prostates, kidney stones, voiding dysfunction and all urologic cancers. He specializes in minimally invasive prostate procedures, erectile dysfunction and testosterone replacement. He has achieved the UroLift Center of Excellence designation based on his additional training and validated successful patient outcomes with the UroLift System.
Prior to joining Summit Health, Dr. Ashley practiced with Bend Urology Associates since 2017. He received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and obtained his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. After completing his residency at the USC Institute of Urology in Los Angeles, he practiced in Olympia, WA. Dr. Ashley feels a responsibility to be a medical translator, helping patients navigate complex medical information. He strives to educate patients and create an environment that fosters honesty and collaboration so they feel confident making important health decisions. “Trust and individualized treatment plans are critical to successful health outcomes,” says Dr. Ashley.
Dr. Ashley is married and has three young sons. When not working, he enjoys trail running, snowboarding, and gravel biking with his wife and three sons.
