Ryan Lurtsema, MD, FAAFP, CAQSM, is a board-certified family and sports medicine physician at Old Mill Clinic, dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to patients of all ages. Dr. Lurtsema’s journey in medicine began with his undergraduate studies at the University of New Mexico, where he earned a degree in Health, Medicine, and Human Values, and later a Doctor of Medicine.

Dr. Lurtsema completed his residency and fellowship at Texas Tech University, earning several prestigious recognitions along the way including Best Departmental Attending Physician, Texas Tech Physicians “99 Club” Recipient, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Resident Teacher Award.

Dr. Lurtsema’s medical training further fueled his dedication to provide comprehensive non-operative musculoskeletal care for athletes and active individuals of all ages and skill levels. “There is no one treatment that works for every patient, so I try to remain flexible and accommodating with treatment goals and expectations,” Dr. Lurtsema explains. “Recognizing that they are the experts of their own body and mind is a guiding principle to the care that I provide.”

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Lurtsema enjoys spending time with his wife and young son. He loves exploring the outdoors, particularly camping, hiking, skiing, and paddleboarding.
