Laurel H. Hartwell, MD

Gastroenterology

Laurel H. Hartwell, MD is a member of Summit Health’s Gastroenterology team. She received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in Anthropology from Williams College, and attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.  After her Internal Medicine residency at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, she completed Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

Dr. Hartwell is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. She is a member of the American Gastrointestinal Association (AGA), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the American College of Physicians (ACP).  Dr. Hartwell has a special interest in liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, but enjoys seeing a wide range of issues in the clinic.

A native of Seattle, Dr. Hartwell spent a significant time in Bend with her family growing up. She is excited to be moving back to the Northwest where she can pursue telemark skiing, fly fishing, botany and biking with her husband and son.
