Michael Franzone, OD, MPH is a member of Summit Health‘s Optometry team. Dr. Franzone is a board-certified optometrist. He sees patients of all ages, ranging from newborns to the elderly. He received specialty training in ocular disease and specialty contact lenses. His area of expertise is in fitting contact lenses for patients with corneal irregularities.
Dr. Franzone completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon in Eugene and earned his Doctor of Optometry and master’s in public health from the Massachusetts Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) University in Worcester.
Dr. Franzone has experience performing comprehensive exams, emergency care, post-operative care, manage ocular disease, fit specialty contact lenses, and provide low vision services. He is also highly skilled at diagnosing, treating, and managing macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, dry eye, cataracts, strabismus, amblyopia, keratoconus, and other ocular systemic diseases.
With family members in the eye care profession, Dr. Franzone felt inspired to pursue the profession and has found the same sense of joy from the optometric profession as his uncle and grandfather.
In his spare time, Dr. Franzone enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors. He also likes playing basketball, hiking, and reading good books. He and his family are very excited to explore all that Central Oregon has to offer.
