William Newberry
William Newberry, MD, is an Oncology specialist located at Summit Health Eastside. He treats cancers of all varieties including breast, lung, prostate, colon, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
After receiving his Bachelors degree from the University of Virginia, Dr. Newberry attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He later completed his residency and fellowship in Medical Oncology at MUSC.
Dr. Newberry decided to pursue a career in medicine due to his passion for helping people overcome health challenges and disease. “I recognized that medicine is an ever-changing field which offers life-long learning and also options to pursue additional training and expertise,” he says.
When caring for his patients, Dr. Newberry prefers an approach designed to meet the goals of patients individually. “I try to communicate effectively so that my patients understand the disease they are facing and the treatments we will use as well as expectations regarding the success of the treatments and potential side effects,” Dr. Newberry explains.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Newberry enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include hiking, fishing, golf, and traveling.
