Yvette Gaynor, FNP, is a member of Summit Health’s family medicine team. She received her undergraduate degree from California State University, Chico, and earned an advanced-level, postgraduate Master of Science degree in nursing, and a family nurse practitioner certificate from Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
Ms. Gaynor’s inspiration to enter the medical field came from her mother, who was an obstetrical nurse for 25 years. She feels her innate ability to support, educate and improve her patient’s health is a valued attribute and strives to achieve the same dedication her mother had with her own patients. “Finding and making a connection with my patients, gives me broader insight to assist with their health care decisions,” says Ms. Gaynor.
Ms. Gaynor believes in emphasizing prevention with routine screening and close follow up. “It’s important that my patients feel invested in their health care,” says Ms. Gaynor. “I will always point out the advantages and disadvantages of treatment options so they can make a decision that feels right for them.”
Ms. Gaynor is experienced in treating a wide range of conditions from chronic to more serious concerns. She can perform minor surgical procedures including skin biopsies, joint injections, contraception counseling, and cancer screenings, among others. She also has a special interest in adolescent health, attention deficit disorder and cardiovascular disorders.
Outside of her career, Ms. Gaynor and her husband are busy raising two active girls and running a cattle operation where they raise all-natural beef. She enjoys coaching her daughters’ volleyball team, being a 4H leader, and traveling with the family as the girls compete in several rodeos around the state. “I am excited to say, there is never a dull moment in our house,” states Ms. Gaynor.
