Katie Bacher, MD, is a Urology provider at Summit Health in Bend. She treats men, women, and children with urologic diseases.
Following undergraduate school at Kansas State University, Dr. Bacher went on to attend medical school at the University of Kansas, and completed her residency at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY. “I chose a career in health care because I wanted to help people and make them feel better about themselves,” she says. When seeing patients, Dr. Bacher strives to make sure they feel comfortable asking her questions and having all of their concerns addressed. “At the end of a visit I hope every person feels like they both know and understand why we’ve decided on a plan and that they participated in that decision,” she explains.
When asked about her approach to care, Dr. Bacher makes sure to treat each patient and care for them how she would want someone to take care of her own family. “Its hard to be on board with or participate in something you don’t understand or see the importance of, and I like to spend the extra time to change that help people get the best care they can,” Dr. Bacher says.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Bacher enjoys hiking, kayaking, and exploring with her dogs. She loves rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs during football season.
