Nicole Smith, MSN, FNP-C

Nicole Smith, MSN, FNP-C, is a member of Summit Health’s cardiology team. Ms. Smith completed her undergraduate degree at Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, and earned a Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington, NC. She also completed the Registered Nurse First Assistant Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University/Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Ms. Smith is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Prior to joining Summit Health, she served as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse working in an electrophysiology lab as well as a cardiovascular cardiac catheterization lab. She also has extensive experience working in a cardiovascular intensive care unit. Ms. Smith assisted physicians during sterile electrophysiology procedures, gaining extensive knowledge on intracardiac electrograms, a method that helps to differentiate specific types of arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats). She was also responsible for making and suturing incisions for implantable cardiac devices and cared for critical and non-critical patients throughout cardiac and vascular procedures.

Her expertise lies in cardiology and includes programming for pacemakers and defibrillators and overall care of heart patients. When she’s not in the office, Ms. Smith enjoys camping and exploring our beautiful surroundings with her husband and two dogs.
