Tonya Koopman was born in Prineville and grew, up in Eastern Oregon. She joined Summit Health in May of 2006. She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health & Sciences University. Her undergraduate studies include a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Oregon State University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health & Sciences University. She is a Certified Pump Trainer for Medtronic, OmniPod, and Animas insulin pump therapy. Additionally, she is a Certified Take Shape For Life Health Coach.
Tonya is a member of the American Association of Diabetic Educators. She specializes in insulin pump management, management of diabetic patients and weight loss. Tonya’s areas of interest include diabetes, health and weight loss education for patients. Tonya has cared for patients in a variety of settings ranging from hospitalized to home bound patients and enjoys helping people improve their health and quality of life.
In her spare time, Tonya enjoys running, cycling, skiing, traveling, yoga, and spending time with friends, family, and her dogs.
