Summit Health’s ENERGY Department Presents the

September Healthy Life Lesson:

Awareness of prostate health has come a long way.  Yet, many men still aren’t sure what the prostate is, what its functions are, and how to have good prostate health.Knowing the answers to these questions is the key to understanding prostate health.

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 190,000 new cases of prostate cancer are diagnosed in the U.S. each year and more than 30 million men suffer from prostate conditions that negatively affect their quality of life.  Over 50% of men in their 60’s and as many as 90% in their 70’s or older have symptoms of an enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Fortunately, there is a lot you can do to keep your prostate healthy as you age—and stay ahead of the game.  Join us to learn more about prostate health and your role in prevention.

Seasonal Allergies & Food Allergies/Intolerances @ Summit Health Old Mill District Clinic
Oct 12 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

If you’re one of the millions of people who have seasonal allergies, it means sneezing, congestion, runny nose, and other bothersome symptoms. Seasonal allergies can make you miserable. But before you settle for plastic flowers and artificial turf, join us to learn more about simple strategies to keep seasonal allergies under control.

It’s easy to confuse a food allergy with a much more common reaction known as food intolerance. While bothersome, food intolerance is a less severe condition. When people have an unpleasant reaction to something they ate, they often think that they have an allergy to the food. However, only about 3% of adults and 6%-8% of children have a true allergic reaction to food. The difference between a food allergy and the public’s perception of the problem is due primarily to misinterpreting food intolerance or other adverse reactions to food as a food allergy. Join us to learn more about the difference between food allergies and intolerances as well as appropriate testing for food allergies.
