Bend Memorial Clinic has donated a total of $15,000 to the Bend LaPine, Redmond, Crook County and Sisters school districts to provide financial assistance for students to play sports and participate in club activities. The money will be used to offset the Pay to Play fees charged for students to participate in sports at middle and high schools.
“We believe every student has a right to play and learn the value and impact of physical activity on their overall health and well-being,” said Christy McLeod, Chief Marketing Officer for BMC. “We look forward to these scholarships helping students who otherwise could not participate in sports and club activities.”
The scholarships will be administered by each of the school districts or the district’s non-profit Foundation.
“We appreciate partners like BMC supporting the Education Foundation in our mission,” said Heather Vihstadt, Executive Director, Bend –LaPine Schools Education Foundation. “In the past few years the need for Activity Fee Scholarships has increased dramatically, and this donation will help a great number of students.”
Those interested in obtaining an Activity Fee Scholarship should contact their school district or Education Foundation directly for more information.
