Dr. Kowalski has spent most his entire life as an Oregonian. Raised on the Oregon coast in a small town called Neskowin, he chose central Oregon as a place to live for the same reason so many others have; his love of the outdoors and the family friendly atmosphere of the high desert.
With a passion to create a working environment within our medical community which fosters the best possible experience for his patients, Dr. Kowalski has served in various leadership capacities within our medical community. This has included positions on the COIPA board of directors, Bend Surgery Center board of directors, Chief of Surgery at St. Charles Hospital in Bend and most recently, Chief of Staff at St. Charles Hospital – Bend and Chairman of the Robotics Committee.
Dr. Kowalski received his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, OR and completed his surgical residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Although his professional interests span the realm of general surgery, he has particular interests in vein care, breast surgery, colorectal surgery and advanced laparoscopy including robotic assisted surgery. He is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons with a Breast Ultrasound certification and a certified participant in the Mastery of Breast Surgery program.
