Summit Health is the only Society for Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication Certified Center of Excellence in Oregon. The Society for Heart Attack Prevention and Eradication (SHAPE) task force established guidelines for noninvasive coronary disease risk screenings that include coronary calcium and carotid intima-media thickness. These painless and noninvasive screenings can often reveal heart attack and stroke risk where other tests cannot. By detecting heart disease early, it allows people time to modify their risk factors and receive early treatment, which could prevent heart attacks and save lives. Heart disease is treatable and for some people may be reversible when treated early.
